May I take this opportunity to wish you all of you and your families a very joyous start to the New Year, it is my hope that 2010 will bring you success, happiness and all the best life can offer.

As 2009 draws to an end, we have had the chance to reflect on some immense and highly noteworthy events which took place at PEACH and how they have helped to highlight Pattaya and Thailand as a very viable international MICE destination, as well as raise the profile the Royal Cliff Beach Resort which has recently seen many improvements.

We were able to welcome old friends such as ADFEST09, Bangkok Life Assurance, The 48th Orient & South East Asia Lions (OSEAL) Forum 2009, Mazda as well as the RCOST Annual Meeting who this year combined their event with SICOT and SIROT.

Other new partners whom we were able to lend our expertise to include Money Expo Pattaya 2009, Birla Sun Life Insurance Group, 30th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) Meeting, ASEAN Summit, Pattaya Food & Hoteliers Expo 2009 and A.P.Honda.

2010 already promises an incredibly busy schedule for PEACH which promises to be good for Pattaya, Thailand as well as the Royal Cliff and I hope to share more of these events with you in the very near future.

For the first time ever Money Expo headed into Pattaya and what a big bang it made! An approximately 45,000 visitors attended the Money Expo Pattaya 2009, which was held between 6th and 8th February in the Pattaya Exhibition And Convention Hall (PEACH) at the Royal Cliff Beach Resort.

The huge 3 day success was officially opened by the Thailand Finance Minister, H. E. Korn Chatikavanij, accompanied by Mr. Santi Wiriyanrungsarit, editor of the Banking Journal, who had conceived the event. Many other VIPs in the financial institution and celebrities attended the first day event, including Governor of Chonburi, Mr Surapol Pongtadsirikul and Pattaya Mayor Mr. Ittipol Khunplume.

Due to the huge success, Money Expo Pattaya will be looking forward to return to Pattaya Exhibition And Convention Hall (PEACH) in 2010.

This is the 11th year which ADFEST chose PEACH as the venue to host their prestigious event. The event consistently showcases an impressive range of creative advertising materials being displayed from all corners of ASIA.

In line with previous years, the atmosphere of ADFEST is always exotic, lavish and stylish with plenty of delicious canapés and beers to go around.

The 2009 Annual Scientific Meeting of the Royal College of Radiologist Thailand was held at the Pattaya Exhibition and Convention Hall (PEACH) from 26 to 28 March 2009 where over 500 visitors from all over Thailand to attend and participate.

The summit from 10-12 April 2009 involving leaders of ASEAN, plus China, Japan and South Korea, was expected to discuss plans for the region to cope with the global economic crisis as well as sign important financial and investment initiatives that would benefit ASEAN’s 570 million people.

A pre-summit meeting of finance ministers on April 9 was successfully concluded, while the first day of the summit on April 10 and a working dinner that evening for the leaders of ASEAN and its dialogue partners, all creatively arranged by the Royal Cliff, set a very promising tone for a successful conclusion of the ASEAN summit.

3rd May 2009, Birla Sun Life Insurance, the 2nd largest insurance group in India visited the Pattaya Exhibition and Convention Hall (PEACH) for their gala dinner themed “Night of The Stars”.

570 “Sparkling Stars” of Birla Sun Life Insurance Group India were specially flown to PEACH to experience a memorable “Night of the Stars” boasting exhilarating international entertainment and acts which included performances from Russia, India and Thailand.

29th May 2009, Thailand Incentive & Convention Association (TICA) and Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) held a training seminar “Flexible Sales & Marketing During Volatile Times” here at PEACH.

A colorful Carnival theme dinner was later held at the Siam Ballroom at the luxury Royal Cliff Beach Resort which was attended by Khun Ittipol Khunpluem, the Pattaya City Mayor.

2 – 8 August 2009, PEACH was the venue of the 30th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) Meeting. The event saw some 170 delegates from AIPA 9 member countries including 11 observing nations attending the event.

The 30th AIPA General Assembly was graciously opened by Thailand Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, whilst also attending the meeting was H.E. Dr. Surin Pitsuwan, Secretary General of ASEAN.

27 - 29 August 2009, the 3rd Edition of the Pattaya Food & Hoteliers Expo 2009 was held here at Hall D, PEACH. The event was opened by Pattaya City Mayor Khun Itthipol Khunpluem.

The purpose of the Pattaya Food & Hoteliers Expo 2009 is to enhance the food and beverage industry and advance the services of hoteliers in Pattaya and the Eastern Seaboard professionally.

28 - 30 August 2009, Bangkok Life Assurance made their return to PEACH for A Hero Night Gala Dinner. Some 1,500 Bangkok Life Assurance management and staff from all corners of Thailand had gathered for this annual event.

Colourful and attractive decorations were put into display for the gala night as the theme was – Hero Night at PEACH. Guests were later entertained by Thai performers Stone Metal Fire Band and Khun Takkatan Chollada.

On 14th September 2009, Japanese company AP Honda held its’ 2009 Honda Motor Worldwide Premiere Launch & A.P. Honda New Model Launching. The event was witnessed by Mr.Koichi Kondo, HM, Executive Vice President of Honda Group and Mr.Zenjiro Sakurai, President of A.P. Honda Co.,Ltd. Some 1500 Honda representatives from all across Thailand attended this prestigious event.

The SICOT and RCOST held its annual meeting at PEACH from29th October to 1st of November 2009 where some of the world’s leading specialists from their respective fields were selected to participate in this event where medical and surgical knowledge as well as experiences were exchanged and shared through daily lectures. The event welcomed a very cosmopolitan range of representatives visiting from 75 countries including Prof. Dr. Suthorn Bovonrathanavech, Prof. Prof. Wichien Laohacharoensombat, respectively recognized as the leading one and two surgery and orthopaedic doctors in Thailand with Prof. Cody Bunger, the SICOT president giving the opening speech.

4 November 2009, Mazda launches its’ new Mazda 2 five hatchbacks at PEACH. The New Mazda 2 inherits the fun-to-drive Zoom-Zoom DNA that is common to all Mazda vehicles, offering harmony between sports styling, excellence safety and quality and dynamic performance. Hyped as the world’s best sports car, the Mazda 2’s prestigious accolades include the World Car of the Year award, plus 50 worldwide awards and a maximum 5-star safety rating from the European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP).

19 – 22 November 2009, the 48th Orient & South East Asia Lions (OSEAL) Forum 2009 was held successfully here at the Royal Cliff Beach Resort and PEACH. This annual event attracted some 6,000 delegates from all over the Asia region -Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and Thailand.
