MONEY EXPO PATTAYA 2009

Pattaya, Thailand – For the first time ever Money Expo headed into Pattaya and what a big bang it made! An approximately 45,000 visitors attended the Money Expo Pattaya 2009, which was held between 6th and 8th February in the Pattaya Exhibition And Convention Hall (PEACH) at the Royal Cliff Beach Resort.
The huge 3 day success was officially opened by the Thailand Finance Minister, H. E. Korn Chatikavanij, accompanied by Mr. Santi Wiriyanrungsarit, editor of the Banking Journal, who had conceived of the event. Many other VIPs in the financial institution and celebrities attended the first day event, including Governor of Chonburi, Mr Surapol Pongtadsirikul and Pattaya Mayor Mr. Ittipol Khunplume.
The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) held a “SET in the City Zone” for the first time this year. According to Ms. Sopawadee Lertmanaschai, SET chief marketing officer, market and post-trade services, “Chonburi accounts for 32% of the eastern seaboard’s deposits, and it has the highest securities trading volume as well.” Pattaya City has the highest gross domestic product in the region.
The Money Expo event joined the SET with commercial banks in order to enhance the public’s abilities in personal financial planning and inform them of investment alternatives. Participating banks included Bangkok Bank, Thai Farmer’s (K) Bank, Siam Commercial Bank, Bank of Ayudhaya, Thai Military Bank, Siam City Bank, Bank Thai, Government Saving Bank, Government Housing Bank.
Other participating organizations included Ayudhaya Auto Lease Co. Ltd., AEON Thana Sinsap Co. Ltd. and Muang Thai Life Assurance, The Revenue Department, The Office of Insurance Commission and Sinsulp Bangkok Commercial Co. Ltd.
To spice up the event, various Thai artists were in attendance, some attractions included dance performances, activities and giveaways were also lined up by the exhibitors to attract visitors for the duration of the event.
Due to the huge success, Money Expo Pattaya will be looking forward to return to Pattaya Exhibition And Convention Hall (PEACH) in 2010.

ORIENT & SOUTHEAST ASIA LIONS 2009 STEERING COMMITTEE MEETING

Pattaya, Thailand – In light of the upcoming Orient & Southeast Asia LIONS 2009 (OSEAL 09) scheduled between 20th and 21st November 2009, the LIONS OSEAL Steering Committee made a visit to the Royal Cliff Beach Resort and Pattaya Exhibition And Convention Hall (PEACH) for an inspection and also to held the 1st Steering Committee Meeting on the 13th to the 15th February 2009.
A total of 110 LIONS OSEAL Steering Committee attended the meeting which includes countries from Brunei, Malaysia, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Guam, and Thailand.
There was a short presentation to the delegates on the venue facilities before the site inspection started on the morning of 14th Feb 2009. The site inspections were divided into 4 different groups of languages – Japanese, Korean and Mandarin. Delegates were able to inspect and acquire vast knowledge of the venue where the OSEAL 09 will take place later this year.
A special Aloha Valentines Day dinner theme was treated to the delegates on the 14th February at the main pool of Royal Cliff Beach Hotel. The area was decorated with magnificent floral ambiance that would compliment the theme. Special Guest, Mayor of Pattaya - Khun Ittipol Khunplume, welcomed the delegates in his speech. The night was full of fabulous entertainment which included a wide range of sumptuous delicacies that was specially prepared for the delegates.

THE 3rd ASEAN DEFENCE MINISTERS' MEETING

Pattaya, Thailand – The 3rd ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting took place at the Royal Cliff Beach Resort, Pattaya on the 25 – 26 February 2009.
The 3rd annual event saw Thailand’s Minister of Defence General Prawit Wongsuwan, as the meeting host and General Apichart Penkitti, Royal Thai Permanent Secretary of Defence as the feature speaker.
Amongst the important VIP’S, in attendance Prime Minister of Malaysia and Minister of Defence, H.E. Dato’ Seri Abdullah Bin HJ Ahmad Badawi, joined Defence Ministers from 9 other ASEAN member countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Brunei, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia) for the meeting.
During the ADMM meeting, three papers have been signed including "The Use of ASEAN Military Assets and Capacities in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief", "ADMM-Plus Principles for Membership" and "ASEAN Defense Establishments and Civil Society Organizations Cooperation on Non-Traditional Security."

After a full day of important meetings and talks, dignitaries were treated to a welcome dinner which was held at the Royal Cliff Beach Hotel main pool. Dignitaries and delegates were entertained by a sensational performance of Vie-trio and Joe Louis Puppet Show later in the evening.
